What to Study After BAC II
Understand your main options after high school and the questions to ask before choosing a programme.
Finishing BAC II is a big moment, and the next decision can feel just as big. Should you go to a local university, study overseas, start work or look for an international programme in Cambodia? This guide sets out the main options and the questions worth asking before you choose.
Your main options
1. A local university degree
A familiar route with many subjects to choose from. Ask how the degree is recognised outside Cambodia if you may want to work for international companies or study further abroad.
2. Studying overseas
Studying abroad offers international experience, but it usually means high tuition and living costs, visas and several years away from family. For many families this is the main barrier.
3. An international pathway in Cambodia
Programmes like the pathway at the International Institute of Higher Education (IIHE) Cambodia let you study British qualifications on a campus in Phnom Penh and progress to a UK Bachelor’s degree, without moving overseas. You study face to face with trainers who know your progress, and the final degree stage is completed online with local support.
4. Work or vocational training first
Some students prefer to work or train in a practical skill before further study. This can be a good choice if you already know the job you want.
Five questions to ask before you choose
- Who awards the qualification? Check the name of the awarding organisation or university that will appear on your certificate.
- Is the full pathway clear? You should know every stage from your first class to your final degree, and what you must achieve to progress.
- What does it cost in total? Ask for the fee for every stage, not just the first year, and which costs are included.
- What English level do I need? Find out whether you need IELTS, or whether there is a placement test.
- What support will I get? Ask who helps you with assignments, exams and study planning.
How IIHE Cambodia answers these questions
- With BAC II you can enter the NCC Education Level 3 Diploma in Business or in Computing directly. You need 4 secondary school subjects at grade C or equivalent, including English and Maths.
- NCC Education awards the Level 3, 4 and 5 qualifications; the final Bachelor’s degree is validated and awarded by the University of Greater Manchester.
- The pathway has four clear stages: Year 1 (Level 3 Diploma), Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4 (the final degree year).
- Fees are published for every stage and paid one stage at a time. See Fees & Admissions.
- You do not need IELTS to start. An IELTS score of 5.5 or above is accepted, or you can take the free NCC Education Higher English Placement Test at IIHE Cambodia (pass mark 40%).
- Our trainers support you with lessons, assignments, exam preparation and study planning.
